Had a great weekend at regionals. 48th out of 53 might sound lousy but those other 52 guys are some of the baddest mother fuckers you don’t know. The Crossfit Games is a competition designed to test the limits of the fittest men and women on the planet and the workouts are of a calibur consistent with that end. I had a blast, working out along side some of the greatest athletes I’ve ever seen is scary and motivating at the same time! I’ll be sure to link to the video when they post it. You can find pictures of the event HERE
Here’s a video I’ve been working of for awhile. It summarizes a lot of what we do here at the Dansville Fitness Club.
I’m 80% excited, 18% nervous, and 7% butterscotch ripple.
It happens every time, they all become blueberries
It’s going to be a fun weekend for sure with some intense workouts and awesome competition. The first 2 workouts have been posted.
Workout 1:
21 Overhead Squats 135lbs
21 Chest to bar pullups
15 Overhead Squats
15 Chest to bar pullups
9 Overhead Squats
9 Chest to bar pullups
Short and bitter sweet with those heavy overhead squats. Going to be hard not putting the bar down.
Workout 2:
In 40 seconds, establish a 3 rep max clean and jerk.
Can’t wait to see what kind of numbers the other guys put up. There will be 2 more workouts on Sunday that haven’t been announced. I’m hoping for 200 pullups and a million double unders, for time. Fingers crossed!
They posted my Athlete Profile on the Games Site. Check it out HERE
I’ll try to keep this website updated, but you can check the games website for updates as well. Have a good weekend and I’ll see you back monday.
NEW FEATURE: I’ve added a “Try this at home” page with equipment friendly workouts you can do at home. In case you really can’t wait until monday.
Already a certified badass, Don attended a Crossfit Seminar this past weekend and got certified there too. Be sure to congratulate him while he makes you squat deeper than that oil leak in the gulf of mexico. More trainers means more perspective, more coaching strategies and styles, and more solid movement… which makes for more results. Congrats Don!
Here’s a couple pics of from last week, and a brief video about cholesterol. Nutrition is a dynamic endeavor with many shades of grey. Studies are always coming out proving one food marginally good or bad. With so many options available and differing opinions, it’s tough to stay on top of it. But we all know the basics. Meat, fruit, veggies. Food is perishable.
“The bulk/cut approach holds that you can either add muscle or lose bodyfat, and that all training should be concerned with one or the other. This assumes that aesthetics is the criterion by which progress is measured, that pictures therefore tell the story, and that picture magazines can be the arbiters of success. This type of thinking completely ignores the performance aspects of training, and performance is much more easily and rapidly influenced. Rapid, quantifiable progress keeps motivation high, much higher than waiting for a six-pack that may or may not show up.” — Mark Rippetoe
